Here are some pictures of the trip to Crater Lake and the Coast that Eric and I went on when he was out last week. It was really good to have him out and to see Crater Lake for the first time. My Lord. I have never seen water so blue. And I'm pumped the pictures captured it. First though, we backpacked for a couple nights a few miles away from the rim. About a 10 mile loop. Then we came out of the wilderness back to the rim on the 2nd afternoon and saw the lake. Wow. We were pretty speachless. Anyway, we hiked the rim trail a couple miles back to the car and headed to the coast for a couple nights. Camped at the Dunes and saw a sweet sunset. Good times.

A delicious meal of biscuts and gravy. Dehydrated and packaged. All we needed was a tiny bottle of tabasco.

Absolutely stunning. The lake is over 7000 feet deep. The bottom is about 1900 or something below sea level. And the steep crater cliffs continue under the water. There's no gradual shore.
